Graveside services for Stanley Franklin Smith will be held at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, Enon Rd, Coolidge on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 10:00. The Reverend Father Benjamin Garren and Rev Mike Keown officiating. Born January 25, 1958 at the Alice E. Wasden Hospital in Pavo, he was the son of Franklin Isom Smith and Doris Buffington Smith who preceded him in death. He grew up east of Coolidge on a farm owned by his family for more than a century. He graduated from Central High School (Thomas County), Emory at Oxford College and Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Architecture. He also studied at Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He worked as a commercial architect in Atlanta before opening his own firm in Thomasville in 1991. He designed many residential, commercial and historic projects in the South Georgia North Florida area. He was an avid supporter of historic preservation and served on the boards of Thomasville Landmarks and the Thomas County Historical Society. He was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor and wit. He was a party planner extraordinaire, a gourmet cook and a kind and caring friend to many. He is survived by three sisters: Mary Jo and Ken Beverly, Thomasville; Nancy and Rick Chandler, Suwanee, GA; Becky and Jim Enzor, Raleigh, NC; Nephews: Max(Charnie) Beverly, Frank (Rachel) Beverly, Thomasville , Benjamin Garren, Tucson, AZ and one niece Elizabeth Chandler Bilton (James) , Dallas, TX., five great nephews and one great niece. Also surviving is his partner and devoted caregiver, Max Smith. Donations may be given in his memory to Thomasville Landmarks Inc.
