Stephen Welch

Mr. Stephen Handford Welch of Cairo, Georgia-Beachton Community, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 24, 2020. Mr. Welch was born April 22, 1924 in Augusta, Georgia to the late Bailey Welch and the late Elizabeth Welch. Mr. Welch served in the United States Army during WWII in the 3rd Division 7th Infantry E.T.O. Mr. Welch retired from South Western State Hospital and was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors. Mr. Welch married the love of his life, Eula Lucille Brown Welch on December 19, 1947 and was married 72 years before her passing. Mr. Welch is survived by the couple’s three children Bruce Welch (Diane), Brenda Roberson and Blane Welch (Tonya); seven grandchildren Donna Knight (Eddie), Valarie Harrison (Brian), Reese Welch, Roxie Clark (Brian), Rebecca Welch, Chaske Welch (Amber), and Blake Welch along with nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucille Welch and two sisters. The family will hold a private graveside service at the family cemetery.
