A memorial service for Sterling Hayden Womble of Hoover, AL will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00AM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Jimmy Clanton will officiate. Sterling was born on April 25, 1972 in Thomas County, GA. He was the son of Stan H. Womble and Loralee Wilcox Womble. He was employed with Southern CaseArts in Bessemer, AL. Sterling graduated high school from Thomas County Central High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served three overseas tours with the 9th Special Operations Squadron in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Provide Comfort. Sterling loved his family and friends but the joy of his life was his daughter Abbi and he was a wonderful son. He is survived by his parents Stan and Loralee Wilcox Womble of Thomasville, his daughter Abigail Reese Womble of Trussville, AL; brothers Stuart H. Womble of Plano, TX and Seth H. Womble of Thomasville; his grandmother Ann R. Womble, Thomasville; aunt Carla W. Barrow (Scott) and their daughter Elizabeth Barrow; uncle Bill Redfern, Thomasville and several great aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by Ronnie Regan, Thomasville and Matt Hutchins of Pinson, AL, Chad McHenry of Calera, AL, three of the best friends a person can have. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Christine Griffin Redfern; paternal grandfather Johnnie L. Womble; maternal grandmother Elinor Lorene Davis Hall; maternal grandfather LeRoy Wilcox. Sterling will be missed by all that loved him. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice. There will be a private burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
