Susie Ethel Barwick

Graveside services for Susie Ethel Barwick, 85 will be 3 p.m. Saturday, August 9 at Barnett's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms Barwick died Aug. 3, 2008 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL. She was a resident of Orange Springs, FL and a former 40-year resident of Pahokee. She was born on June 7, 1923 in Cairo, GA to Olin Jefferson and Honorene Gilliard Wimberley. She was married on March 16, 1940 to J. S. Barwick, who died on July 7, 1990. Survivors are daughters Becky Barwick, Charlotte, NC; Geni Simon Train Hastings, and Susan Elliott, both of Williston, FL; and Laurie Ronnie Hilliard of Orange Springs, son Jeff Carlota Barwick of Clewiston, FL. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, Patty Barwick and Elizabeth Cohen and her very special friends Frank and Betty Jean Tillis of Canal Point, FL. Another son, John "Dopper" Barwick, Jr., died on August 22, 1995. Her sisters Ellen Harvey, Edna Earle Chason, and Louise Morris and her brothers Buddy and Rogers all preceded her in death. Family visitation will be immediately before and after the service.
