Susie “Sue” Dorothy Lindsay Ferrell was born on April 7, 1933 in a log cabin in Grady County, GA, and ended her earthly journey on April 27, 2024. Susie was the daughter of the late Emmett David Lindsay and Katie White Lindsay Rich. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Rawls Ferrell; granddaughters Anna and Jessica Chambers; granddaughter Holly Hobbs; son-in-law Biff Hobbs; sisters and brother-in-laws Evelyn and Hill Tuggle, Bernice and Ralph Griffin, Artie Mae and Clyde Tyler, and brother and sister-in-law Buddy and Nancy Lindsay.
She is survived by daughter Dottie Hobbs; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and John Chambers; and son and daughter-in-law David and Melanie Ferrell; grandchildren: Ashley and husband Jamie Finch, Amelia Chambers, Marion Chambers, Hannah Ferrell, Matthew Ferrell; great-grandchildren: Whitt Finch, Amelia Finch, Adeline Finch, and Ana Chambers. Susie is also survived by many special and beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
For over 70 years Susie was an active member of Dawson Street Baptist Church where she taught 4 year old Sunday School for more than 25 years. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and never met a stranger. She was an outstanding seamstress, quilter, cook, and baker. She and her best friend, the late Agnes Barrett, were locally renown for their wedding cakes (which tasted as good as they looked).
Visitation will be held Monday, April 29, 5pm -7pm in the chapel at Allen and Allen Funeral Home.
Service will be at Tuesday, April 30, 11 a.m. at Dawson Street Baptist Church with her nephew Mike Griffin and pastor Lee Waller officiating. Internment will be held following the service in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
