Suzanne Ulmer

Services for Mary “Suzanne” Chastain Ulmer will be held at 4:00PM on Saturday March 11, 2017 in the Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Puryear officiating. Mrs. Ulmer passed away March 9, 2017 at The Suites of Woodleaf. Born on December 14, 1942 in Miami, Fl, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Howard Chastain and Mary Bordeaux Chastain. After graduating in the nursing program, she worked in nursing providing services for local insurance companies until her retirement. Mrs. Ulmer also worked as a volunteer for community development grant programs. Her passions in life were caring for her family, traveling, working in her colorful flower garden and rescuing her cats Maxine, Buddy Boy, and Scary Cat. She is survived by her daughter Melinda Suzanne Ulmer Smith of Ellenton, Fl; grandchildren Haley Suzanne Smith and Jeffrey Charles Smith; brother Steve Chastain and Phillip Chastain both of Thomasville; numerous nieces and nephews; companion and friend George Doss of Thomasville; special ladies who cared for her Linda Burkes and Luwaner Johnson; she was preceded in death by her son Ray “Trey” Eugene Ulmer III, brother Johnny Chastain and sister Lyndell Chastain Mercer.
