Teresita Elena Blardony, better known as Mama or Mimi, passed away at home in Thomasville, GA on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. She was born on March 7, 1928 in Manila, Philippines to Mauro and Elena Blardony. World War II brought American troups to the Philippines and with them James Donald Pounds her future husband. They were married in 1946, daughter Caroline was born in 1947. In 1948 the family moved to Georgia, to Donald’s home and James Jr. was born soon afterwards. Rebecca Elaine, Michael Lester and Christina Renee completed the family. Teresita was preceded in death by James Donald Pounds, Sr., daughter, Christina Pounds, and brother Alfonso (Chique) Blardony. Survivors include her brother Mauro Blardony, Jr and sister Erlinda Barrios, children James Donald Pounds, Jr., Suwanee, GA, Michael Lester Pounds, Arden, NC, Rebecca Elaine Pounds, Maysville, GA, and Caroline Pounds Taylor (Russell), Thomasville, GA. Grandchildren James Donald Pounds, III, Decatur, GA and Jonathan Edward Pounds, Cummings, GA; Michelle Pounds Stowers (Brett), Charlotte NC, Shelby Elizabeth Pounds, Wilmington, NC, Robert Russell Taylor II (Lisa), Thomasville, GA, Dawn Taylor Hobson (Ashley), Bradenton, FL, and Melanie Taylor Polhill (Stephen), Roswell, GA. Great grandchildren include Jonathan Caleb Pounds, Alpharetta, GA, Macy Elisabeth Taylor, Robert Russell Taylor III, and baby Taylor, Thomasville, GA, Michael Wesley Hobson and Sophia Isabella Hobson, Bradenton, FL and Caroline Teasley Polhill, Neely Jane Polhill, and Lauren Elena Polhill, Roswell, GA., and numerous other relatives.
Teresita was a strong, passionate woman who loved her family with all her heart, and devoted her life to them. She especially loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fun, feisty, frugal, intelligent and beautiful. Now she is in heaven holding Tina’s hand, smiling and watching over all her loved ones. A private ceremony is being held in honor.
