Thelma Pearl Umphurs

Funeral services for Thelma Pearl Umphurs will be held on Wednesday, November 6th, 2002 at 4:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, followed by interment at Salem Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Gerald Horne. Pallbearers will be Jay Grubb, Eric Grubb, Lee Roberts, John Roberts, John Hardy, and Gary Harper. Born August 28, 1917 in Lawrence Co., GA, Mrs. Umphurs was the daughter of Zeke and Delery Gramham Young who both preceed her in death. She was the spouse of the late Dewey Umphurs. Mrs. Umphurs was retired from the Holiday Inn of Thomasville. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-laws, Sam and Joyce Umphurs and Mack and Ann Umphurs all of Thomasville; daughter and son-in-law Inez Johnson and Jimmy Jolly of Dublin; granddaughters, Seretha Roberts, Deborah Fletcher, Susan Tidey, Karen Luce, Tammy Long, Judy Bostick, and Teresa Crawford; grandsons, James Bostick, Dale Mitchell, Bud Umphurs, Keith Umphurs, Derek Umphurs, Jackie Rogers, and Lee Parramore; 38 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Umphurs; grandson, Lee Bostick; 7 brothers and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Allen & Allen Funeral Home.
