Thomas Joshua Mims

Graveside services for Thomas Joshua Mims, 83 of Boston will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Rev. Steve Brooks and Rev. Lee Waller will officiate. Mr. Mims passed away October 22, 2013 at Archbold Hospital. Born November 23, 1929 in Thomas County, he was the son of the late James Joshua Mims and Susan Duggar Mims. He was married to Estelle Cannon Mims, who survives. Mr. Mims was a graduate of Boston High School, and Massey Business School. He established Georgia-Florida Burglar Alarm Company in September of 1953 and retired in January of 2011. Other survivors include his children, David Mims and wife Debbie of Tallahassee, Sandra Brookerd and husband Reese of Boston, Mike Mims and wife Harriett of Thomasville and Jeff Mims and wife Julie of Boston; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Kent and brother, George Mims and wife Bennie. He was preceded in death by brother, Emmett Mims and sister, Frances Boyett. Memorials may be made to 1st Newark Baptist Church, 225 Russell Rd, Thomasville, Ga 31757.
