Thomas King Vann Iii

May 29, 1951 — October 7, 2021

Thomas King Vann III died at Archbold Memorial hospital on October 7, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born to Thomas King Vann Jr. and Anne Bulloch Vann on May 29, 1951 in Quitman, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at The First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville at 2pm Thursday October 14th. Thomas was born the eldest of four boys; Nick Vann and wife Janice of Rome, Georgia; Jeff Vann and wife Bitsy of Athens, Georgia and Harry Vann and wife Windy of Thomasville. The boys had two older sisters. Anne “Bunny” Reddick and husband David of Roswell, Georgia and Patsy Mossman and husband Rick of Orlando, Florida. Thomas loved his brothers-in-laws and considered them brothers as well. Vann nieces, nephews and cousins abound and are all lovingly referred to as “The Vann Clan.”

Honorary Pall Bearers will be lifelong and dearest friends Tommy Alexander, Larry Bradner and Jimmy Turner.

Thomas is survived by his wife Kay Suber Vann. These two fell in love at the tender age of 16 while attending Thomasville High School. They married September 3, 1972. The days of their lives together were blessed; always remaining faithful friends and best companions. Their grown children and their families are their pride and joy. Their daughter Bryce Hayes Vann Brock is married to Seth and they are parents to Hayes and Rhoan. Their son Thomas Jared Vann is married to Bethany and they are parents to Caroline and Sam. They all reside on St. Simons Island, Georgia.

After graduation from Thomasville High School, Thomas received a BA from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Georgia State University. He pursued a career as a Certified Public Account in Thomasville, owning his own accounting firm.

He was renowned for his curiosity of all things. He was an avid reader who enjoyed learning. His love of biblical studies had become of particular interest in later years leading to faithful participation in several bible study groups. He loved the water, enjoying both fresh and saltwater fishing. He loved the occasional hunting excursion; but it was the time spent with his son, son-in-law and friends participating in these sports that brought him the greatest joy.

This man loved his family and all family time spent together whether it was sitting around a fire at the family farm, celebrating a holiday, playing chess or checkers with a grandson or learning a dance from a granddaughter. We will take all these memories with us to be the sunshine after the rain.

Much of his life effort was given to the Thomasville YMCA. He grew up at this institution and as an adult tried to give back through serving on its board, serving as its President, participating in fund raising and mostly loving coaching its youth….his son in particular. The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Thomasville YMCA, P.O. Box 1037, Thomasville, Georgia 31799 to be used for Youth Scholarships.
