Thomas W Workman

April 16, 1931 — April 27, 2023

Thomas W. Workman passed away April 27 at his home in Thomasville, Georgia, at the age of 92. Thomas is survived by his daughters, Teresa Lawhorne (Knoxville, TN), Kelly Shea (Webster, MA), and Kerri McWilliams (Warner Robins, GA), five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, and the mother of his children, Shirley Workman, on 3/18/1991 at the age of 55, his daughter, Judi Wilkerson, on 12/9/2012 at the age of 53, and his wife, Pansy Genene Workman, on 2/7/2020 at the age of 80.
Thomas grew up in Webster Springs, WVA......coal mining country. However, Tom knew that coal mining was not in his future, so at the age of 18 he joined the United States Air Force. He served from 1951-1971. With his family, he was stationed at bases in Europe and the United States. Upon his retirement, they made their home in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
After the loss of his wife, Shirley, in 1991, Tom moved to Thomasville to be near his eldest daughter, Teresa. Here he met Genene, and they were married on November 7, 1992. Not only did he have a new wife, but he was also embraced by a very loving family. With his over-abounding energy, Tom was not one to sit around. He worked on the stock crew at Winn Dixie until the store's closing. He promptly went to work at Publix. Customers and staff alike loved Tom's ready smile, his work ethic, and the glow on his face because he enjoyed his job. He worked there until 2014. His other passion was working with flowers. Even after he had worked all day, he enjoyed coming home and creating many beautiful flowerbeds!
There will be no formal services, but the family wishes to thank those who have reached out, and for the love and friendship shown Tom throughout the years.
