Mr. Byers died March 18, 2003 at the Lake City V.A. Hospital in Lake City, Fla. Born November 10, 1937 in Statesville, N.C., he was the son of the late Clarence Wesley and Connie Laws Byers. He was retired from Huffman Metal Works and a member of American Legion Post 31 and a Air Force Veteran. Survivors include a son, Jeff Byers of Maiden, N.C., daughters, Susan Jewett and Kelly Carrigan both of Bridgewater, MA.; brother, Floyd Byers of Gastonia, N.C., sister, Betty Huffman of Claremont, N.C. and four grandchildren.
