Truman Osborne (Obby) Chastain Jr

Funeral services for Truman Osborne (Obby) Chastain, Jr; 85 will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Jimmy Clanton will officiate and interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Phillip Taylor, Chris Rehberg, Scott Singletary, Travis Williams, Jason Barrow and Terry James Chastain, Jr. Born September 23, 1929 in Thomasville; he was the son of the late Truman Osborne Chastain, Sr and Hazel Smith Chastain. He was married to Mariwil Bush Chastain, who preceded him in death. He later married Murlene Youngblood who also preceded him in death. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. T.F. Callaway. Mr. Chastain spent his entire career in the lumber business working in all phases of the industry. He was a master carpenter and draftsman. Survivors include sons, Allan O. Chastain and wife Lynne and Terry James Chastain, Sr. and wife Linda; daughter, Elise Chastain Taylor and husband Kevin all of Thomasville; step-children, Tina Barrett and husband Dennis, Terri Singletary and husband Scott and Sonny Youngblood; grandchildren, Natalie Jones and husband Ben, Julie Claire Chastain, Ashley Barrow and husband Jason, Terry James Chastain, Jr., Phillip Taylor and wife Maria; step-grandchildren, Amber Humphries, Travis Williams, Scott Singletary, Brooke Turk and Dean Youngblood and sister, Nell Ray Rice of Thomasville and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Doris Pate. The family will receive friends 10-11 am Wednesday before the service.
