Services for Velma Allen Gibson, 86, of Thomasville, are at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Allen and Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ken Burgess will officiate and interment is in Big Ochlocknee Cemetery. Mrs. Gibson died April 2, 2009 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born March 2, 1923 in Etowah, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Edward Earl and Ora Ethel Anderson Allen, who preceded her in death. On October 31, 1945, she married William Carlile Gibson who preceded her in death on March 30, 2005. She was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Mark William and Pam Gibson of Cedar Mountain, N.C. and John and Sue Gibson of Moultrie; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy G. and Frank Forbes of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kevin Forbes, Jeremy Gibson, Adam Gibson, Aaron Gibson, Jared Gibson, Joseph Gibson, Josh Gibson, Jennifer Holifield; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Earl Allen of Monroe. She was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Allen and Charles Allen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Children's Home, 7771 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL. 32309. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
