Velma Youngblood Sherrod

Services for Velma Youngblood Sherrod, 95 of Pavo will be held at 2 PM, Monday, March 13 at Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member. Brother Billy Rogers and Rev. Edward L. Sherrod will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Sherrod passed away March 10, 2017 at Camellia Gardens. Born April 19, 1921 in Barney, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Hardie and Ernie Johnson Youngblood. On May 13, 1939 in Florida she married Odis Sherrod, who preceded her in death. She worked for Warner’s as a seamstress and cashier. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Larry and Cathy Sherrod of Pavo; daughters-in-law, Elaine Sherrod of Thomasville and Shirley Sherrod of Ray City, Florida; Grandchildren, JoAnn Green, Patricia Blawn, Wanda Hancock, Nancy Newborn, Rev. Edward Sherrod and Michael Sherrod; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and sister, Venita Lacy of Tifton. She was preceded in death by sons, Joe Sherrod and Odis Douglas Sherrod and granddaughter, Beth Sherrod. The family will receive friends 4-6 pm, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the funeral home.
