Services for Velna Long Hunter, 80, of Thomasville are Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at East Side Baptist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Tim Robson will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Hunter died March 3, 2017 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born August 12, 1936 in Meigs, GA she was the daughter of the late Roy A. Long and Jesse Golden Long. Mrs. Hunter Graduated from Meigs High School. On March 2, 1957 in Thomas Co., she married Billy Joe Hunter who survives. Mrs. Hunter enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known by many as ”Nanny”. Other survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Tammy Hunter, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roy Setliff all of Thomasville, grandchildren, Kimberly and Todd Powell, Kelly and Kevin VanLandingham, Melissa and Kyle Pittman, Ryan Setliff and Kyle Hunter, great grandchildren, Mathew Ambrose, Michael Powell, Will VanLandingham, Casey Pittman and Emma VanLandingham. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ray Long, Roy Long, EuraLee Long, Harold Long, E.J. Long and sister, Catherine (Kitty) Blow. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Josh Simmons of Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology.
