Graveside services for Hampton Verlyn Denney of Barwick will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday May 7, 2017 at Roselawn Cemetery in Barwick with Dr. Jimmy Clanton officiating. Born on December 1, 1924 in Roopville, Ga, he was the son of the late Lonza Denney and Lula Stephens Denney. Mr. Denney graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Animal Husbandry. Verlyn served his country and traveled the world in the United States Merchant Marines. He began his career as cattle manager at Brays Island Plantation in South Carolina where he met his wife, Betty. He later relocated to Thomasville, where he was cattle manager at Sinkola Plantation. He later raised his own herd in Barwick at Lazy Lake Farm. He was a former member of the Thomasville Exchange Club and First United Methodist Church in Thomasville. He was married to Betty Weekley Denney of Barwick who survives. Other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Jane Lynn and Chuck Toles of Barwick; grandchildren Charles Denney Toles and Tyler Weekley Toles. His family will receive friends after the service at his daughter’s residence at 6866 Coffee Rd. in Barwick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomasville Humane Society, 120 Big Star Dr, Thomasville, Ga 31792.
