Funeral service for Vernon Eugene Jackson Sr., will be Sunday January 14th, 2024 at Pineland Baptist Church at 2PM. A beloved husband, father, PaPa and father-in-law, and member of the community, peacefully passed away on January 11, 2024, in Thomasville, GA, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 20, 1951, in the heart of Thomasville, GA. Vernon was a devoted family man, and his 50-year marriage to his loving wife, Ruby Jackson, was a testament to their unwavering bond. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories. Vernon dedicated his life to serving others in both his professional and personal life. As the proud owner of Jackson Hilltop Gulf, he embraced the opportunity to connect with members of the community. His warm smile, kind heart, and genuine concern for others made him a beloved figure to both customers and friends alike. Vernon's faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active member of Pineland Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, participated in the bus ministry, and brought comfort to those in hospitals and nursing homes through his visits. His devotion to his church family highlighted his unwavering compassion and love for others. A passionate outdoorsman, Vernon found solace and joy in hunting. It was during these moments in the wilderness that he felt closest to the beauty of nature and the serenity of God's creation. Vernon leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving children, Vernon Eugene Jackson Jr. (Patti) of Ochlocknee and Kim Alligood (Kent) of Ochlocknee. His grandchildren, Abbey Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Ansley Owens (Noah), and Kendall Alligood, were the light of his life. Vernon is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy Jackson of Pelham and Harold Jackson (Patsy) of Thomasville, and sister, Betty Jean Humphries (Donnie) of Pelham. His hunting buddy, Wayne Joiner, shared countless adventures in the pursuit of their shared passion. Other survivors include sister-in-law Christal Sumner (Bobby)and brother-in-law Kevin Hart, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Artis Jackson and brother and sister-in-law Roger and Geraldine Jackson and brother-in-law Kenny Hart. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation will be held Saturday January 13th, 2024 from 4-6PM at the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Pineland Baptist Church Bus Ministry 2031 E. Clay St. Thomasville, Ga 31792 and Gideons International P.O. Box 2361 Thomasville, Ga 31799 in memory of Vernon.
