Funeral services for Virginia Herring Beckham, 80, of Thomasville, will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at the Celebration of Life Chapel at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Beckham passed away Wednesday, April 28 at Legacy Village at Plantation Manor. Born June 28, 1940 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of George Jordan and Iva Christine Herring. She attended Thomasville City Schools through the eighth grade before graduating high school at Mount de Sales Academy in Macon. She was a homemaker and was also employed by Radiology & Associates. She enjoyed yard work, taking her grandchildren for golf cart rides, bird and butterfly watching in her backyard, and making pimento cheese to give to family members. She is remembered by all who knew her for her sweet and selfless spirit and was a faithful member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Beckham, to whom she was married to for 56 years. She is survived by five children, Steve (Janice) Beckham and Mark (DeeDee) Beckham of Boston, Chris (Stacey) Beckham of Tifton, Russ Beckham of Thomasville, and Libby (Bill) Bickers of Valdosta; two brothers, Larry (Pat) Herring and Michael (Nancy) Herring of Thomasville; three sisters, Joan Herring and Beth (Robbie) Glausier of Thomasville, and Mary Herring of Tallahassee; 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Legacy Village at Plantation Manor for the outstanding care they provided for her.
