Virginia Singletary McKean -A native of Ochlocknee, Georgia, raised in Coral Gables, Florida, and a long time resident of Mobile, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in a local hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard L. McKean, Jr. Survivors include a son Richard L. McKean, III and his wife, Cynthia; two grandchildren, Vivian Leigh Mark King and Jenny Forest Neese; Cynthia's sons, Dr. Ryan Cotton and Ben Cotton; two great-grandchildren, Pelham and Mackie Neese, and her dog, Lucky. She was a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, and worked seventeen years as a surgical nurse at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Mrs. McKean volunteered on the Anastasia sailing to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. She was an avid golfer and member of the Mobile Country Club and The Daughters of the American Revolution. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street. Graveside services will be Monday, February 22, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ochocknee City Cemetery, in Ochocknee, Georgia.
