Vonice Raulerson Barnes

Funeral services for Vonice Raulerson Barnes will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Summerhill Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Clements officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers will be her family and church friends. Mrs. Barnes passed away on Saturday October 1, 2016 at Cook Medical Center in Adel, Ga. Born on September 5, 1933 she was the daughter of the late James Leslie Raulerson and Minnie Dyal Raulerson. She was a member of Summerhill Baptist Church where she joined in 1956 and was active by serving as a Sunday School teacher, WMU, and choir member. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, sewing, reading and playing Bingo with her church family. Mrs. Barnes was married to Joseph Edward Barnes, Sr. who preceded her in death on March 10, 2008. She is survived by her children Eddie Barnes and his wife Betty of Coolidge, Ga., Tommy Barnes and his wife Luann of Cherry Lake, Fl, David Barnes of Thomasville, Ga, Helen Brogdon and her husband Bubba of Cairo, Ga, Ricky Barnes of Boston, Ga., Susan Sherrod and her husband Dwight of Boston, Ga., Phyllis Young and her husband Rodney of Valdosta, Ga, Becky McDonald and her husband Robyn of Boston, Ga; brother Robert Raulerson of Yulee, Fl., sister Betty Rowland of Jacksonville, Fl., brother James Raulerson of Blackshear, Ga., sister Melvenie Collins of Callahan, Fl; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Kathi Barnes; grandson Corey Barnes; brothers Vernon, J.R., and Eugene Raulerson; sisters Eda Mae Turner, Elmira McNeil, and Jeanette Mitchell. Mrs. Barnes’ family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM.
