W. Vernon Bennett

Funeral Services for W. Vernon Bennett, 90, of Thomasville, Ga will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, November 30th of 2021 at Dawson Street Baptist Church. Rev. Lee Waller will officiate, and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Vernon went to be with the lord late Saturday evening, November 20th, at home surrounded by his family. Born June 30th, 1931, to his parents, Ivey and Mary Bennett, Vernon grew up in Cairo, Ga where he served as an Eagle Scout for many years . Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marie H. Bennett. Vernon is survived by his sister, Dolly A. Foster (Bill), daughter, Dawn B. Snider (Jerry), his son W. Timothy Bennett, his granddaughter Hannah M. Bush (Blake), and his great grandson K. Bennett Bush. Vernon served in the United States Air Force and then went on to graduate from UGA (Atlanta Division) with a bachelor's in business Administration. He married Marie Herndon in 1957 and they lived in Macon and Albany before finally settling down in Thomasville, Ga. He worked as an independent Insurance Agent until he retired from Caldwell and Langford in 2019. Vernon loved Jesus and served as a member at Dawson Street Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs. The family is at peace that he is now in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to Dawson Street Baptist Church. The family could not have gone through this without Dr. Fenlon, the McIntosh Clinic, Archbold Home Health, and Bethany Hospice.
