Services for W.L. Palmer, Sr., 89, of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Monday November23, 2009 at Northwoods Church of God where he was a member. Bishop Tony Clay and Rev. Hugh Rockett will officiate with interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Palmer died November 20, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born May 24, 1920 in Thomas Co., GA he was the son of the late Melton and Mattie Stanaland Palmer. He was married to Vera Benton Palmer who preceded him in death. Mr. Palmer was a retired service station owner and was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII serving in Northern Africa and Italy. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. Mr. Palmer was an avid fisherman. He and his sons spent many hours fishing the local lakes. Survivors include, daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Palmer Murchison and Noel of Quitman, Martha Ezell and Jerome of Cairo, sons, Willis L Palmer, Jr. and Michael Palmer both of Thomasville, grandchildren, Lisa and Sonny Lofton, Tori and Wally Christie, Chad Murchison, David and Penny Ezell, Tim and Kim Ezell and Will and Morgan Palmer; great grandchildren, Fordham, Lindy, Natalie, Elizabeth, Trey, Jeremy, and Emilee, brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Carolyn Palmer of Thomasville, sisters, Evelyn Alligood of Cairo, Edna Surles and Margie Griffin both of Thomasville, sister-in-law, Edna Palmer of Thomasville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Hilton Palmer. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00PM on Sunday at the funeral Home.
