Wallace Hugh Pumphrey

Services for Wallace Hugh Pumphrey, 85, of Thomasville will be held 11 am, Friday, January 20 at Rose City Church of God, where he was a member. Rev. Gerald Horne will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Garden. Mr. Pumphrey passed away on January 16 at Archbold Hospital. Born June 4, 1926 in Jacksonville, Fl., he was the son of the late Frank and Grace Pumphrey Smith. He was married to Evelyn Ward Pumphrey, who survives. Mr. Pumphrey was a veteran of the United States Navy, was an insurance salesman for Life of Georgia and started the Thomasville Coin Club. Other survivors include his children, David W. Pumphrey and wife Ellen, Donald L. Pumphrey and wife Patricia all of Greensboro, NC, Daniel L. Pumphrey and wife Donna of Elkin, NC, Mary Ann Stewart and husband Rob of Greensboro, NC, stepsons; Donald Moody of Thomasville, William Moody and wife Sandra of Crawfordville, Fl; grandchildren, Amy Snyder, Jasper Pumphrey and Susanne Smith.
