Walter C. "Rusty" Helton

Memorial services for Walter C. (Rusty) Helton, 69 of Metcalf will be held 11 AM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Felix Atkinson will officiate. Mr. Helton passed away March 6, 2017 at Archbold Hospital. Born June 18, 1947 in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Clay Helton and Agnes Sutton Helton. On February 28, 1969 in Cairo, he married Sandra E. Rouse Helton, who survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an engineer at Flowers Banking Company for 26 years. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He is also survived by daughter, Sheila Johnson and husband Mike; son, Jason Helton all of Metcalfe; grandchildren, Jessica Brinson and husband Chris, Ciara Helton and Dallas Helton and great-grandson, Landon Christopher Brinson. He also leaves behind numerous family members and friends who will miss him greatly. He was very loving and caring man who took in and helped numerous of his son’s friends when they need a helping hand and cared for them as much as his own children. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald Helton, Roy Helton and Rowland Helton. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O.
