Wayne W. Kinsey

October 27, 1944 — January 14, 2025

Wayne Kinsey, an esteemed Vietnam War veteran, dedicated farmer and small business owner from Monticello, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 80. He was born on October 27, 1944, in Madison, Fl. He spent his life serving both his country and his local community.

Wayne proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated unwavering courage and commitment to his fellow soldiers. He earned many medals: Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device, Overseas Service Bar, Army Commendation Medal and Marksman (Rifle M-14). His experiences shaped him into a resilient individual who valued hard work and integrity.

After returning home, Wayne continued to embody these values as a farmer and small business owner. For over five decades, he worked tirelessly to cultivate his land off Kinsey Road, beautifying the property, nurturing livestock, populating his fishponds, growing row crops, vegetables, blueberries, hay, pine trees etc. He always said, “This land can grow anything”. He enjoyed selling and giving away the fruits of his labor. He was quite the salesman, a great storyteller with a sharp wit and sense of humor and ultimately a very generous, huge hearted man. Wayne was well known for being firm but fair to all equally. A trait that made his convenience store so successful. His passion for farming was matched only by his love for family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his beloved daughter Donna and sister Lavonne, four grandchildren, one great grandchild, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who brought immense joy to his life.

Wayne Kinsey will be remembered not only for his local farming and small business contribution but also for his dynamic smile, gregarious laugh, quick humor, bountiful generosity, kind and tender heart, strong character, bravery, faith in God and dedication to family, that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He was truly one of a kind. THERE WAS ONLY ONE WAYNE KINSEY.

If you are asking, how can I honor Wayne Kinsey, one way would be to make a donation to the Disabled American Veterans through DAV.org
