W. B. Dub Allen

Funeral services for W. B. Dub Allen, Jr. will be 10:00 am, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dewitt Rehberg will officiate and burial will follow in Little Ochlochnee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Slaughter, Patrick Slaughter, Caleb Allen, Joshua Allen, Chris Harwood and Nick Lewis. Mr. Allen died on November 15, 2009 at Archbold Hospital. Born on July 5, 1930 in Grady Co., he was the son of the late W. B. and Mary Ella Pollock Allen. Mr. Allen was married to Mavelene Griffin Allen and after her death he married Dollie Taylor Harwood Allen, who survives. He was educated in the Grady County school system and Georgia Institute of Technology Department of Continuing Education from whom he received a certificate in Textile Mathmatics and Technology. He retired from Coats American Thread Mill after 43 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church and former member of BPOE # 1618. Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law, The Rev. Roger & Elisabeth Allen of Alexander City, AL, Bruce & Kathy Allen of Thomasville, daughter, Wanda Allen of Thomasville, sons & daughters-in-law, David & Diane Allen of Whigham, and Don & Robin Allen of Tifton; grandchildren, Caleb Allen, Joshua Allen, Sarah Allen, Alan Slaughter, Patrick Slaughter, Heather Allen, Amber Allen; 7 great grandchildren; stepsons, Andy Harwood, Randy Harwood and Dana Harwood, all of Thomasville; 5 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Wednesday at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Guests may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com
