Whitney Nanette Shipp passed peacefully at 5:30 on Oct 14 in Thomasville Ga. She was
born in Americus GA on August 7, 1980. For the last five years, she has struggled with liver
function issues. She lost that battle today. Whitney was 43 years old.
She is survived by her parents, John and Barbara Shipp of Cumming Ga, her brother John
Dawson Shipp of Milledgeville Ga, her aunt Cecily Bates of Albany, her first cousins William
Bates of Albany and Kelli Bates Payne of Auburn Al. She is also survived by the love of her
life, her fiance Josh Clements of Thomasville Ga.
Whitney was a graduate of Brookwood School in Thomasville, attended Georgia Tech,
and graduated from Georgia Southwestern University. She last worked in the insurance industry
for Country Financial and Brown and Brown.
Whitney was known by her friends for her bubbly personality which allowed her to move
in any circles with ease. She acquired many lasting friends along the way during her short life.
What she loved most was exercising, traveling, fine dining, putting on dinners and being at the
seashore.
Whitney’s remains will be handled privately as she wished and there will be no formal
funeral or visitation ceremony. There will be a celebration of life in the Atlanta Area in the near
future planned by her close friends.
The family requests no flowers or tree plantings. Text or emails are appreciated, calls are
discouraged. Memorial donations in her name should be made to the American Liver
Association.
