Wilburn Richard "Rick" Owens Jr.

Rick Owens, 55, of Thomasville, Ga passed away on June 13, 2023. Services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11 AM at Salem Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Thompson and Brother Lee Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He was born October 9, 1967, to Wilburn and Sue Owens. Rick graduated from Central High School in 1985. He was a farmer for several years. Rick owned and operated Cavalier Homes and was also the owner of Big Oak Builders. Rick was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He loved helping kids build cars for the Pinewood Derby and other RA activities like camping. His favorite hobbies include bass fishing, hunting, and boat racing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and family. He is survived by his parents Wilburn and Sue Owens; children, Laci, Marla, Thorn Owens and Evan Harris; brothers, Bret (Wendy) Owens, and Jason (Janie) Owens; nieces and nephews, Cage, Celeste, Kathryn, and Colin Owens; mother of his children Melinda Roper Owens; mother-in-law Shirley Darlene Roper. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Murtie Owens and Leonard and Elsie Thornhill and father-in-law James McDuffie Roper. A visitation will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, from 5-7 PM in the Allen & Allen Celebration of Life Chapel. Pallbearers will be Michael Reynolds, Jay Gilbert, Russ Beckham, Page Willis, Stanley Benton, and Art Powers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ken Cone, Jeramy Johnson, Don Nix, Chris Hart, Rick Stephenson, and Lucus Stewart.
