Graveside services for William ?Bill? D. Simmons, Sr. will be at 11:00am, Monday, September 25, 2006 at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmy Odum will officiate. Mr. Simmons died peacefully at his home in Pavo on Sept 22, 2006; at his side were his son & daughter. He was born in Pavo on May 22, 1934, and was the eldest son of William Jackson & Millie Lee Knowles Simmons. On June 30, 1957, he married Helen Sherrod. She remained his wife until her untimely death on Sept 12, 2001. Mr. Simmons was a retired Senior Communications Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency. His family accompanied him on extended tours of duty to Manilla, Phillipines; Okinawa, Japan; and Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. He leaves behind a son, Dan Simmons, of Pavo and a daughter & son-in-law, Martha Ann & Charlie Nazworth, a beloved granddaughter Blair Renee Nazworth all of Thomasville, a step grandson, Bryan Nazworth of Eustis, Fl; and a brother Albert Simmons of Pavo. His family wishes to thank the friends and family members that visited their father during his illness. They would also thank the many out of state friends and family that kept in contact by their caring telephone calls. A sincere thank you is extended to Dr. Patrick Fenlon. Dr. Fenlon was always caring, jokeful and supportive to both Helen and William Simmons. Dr. Fenlon, Thank You. A thank you also to Tess of Dr. Fenlon?s office.
