William ?Bill? Clarence Bitzel, Jr.
Services for William ?Bill? Clarence Bitzel, Jr., 57, of Thomasville, are 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. Mr. Bitzel died Feb. 9, 2007. Born March 14, 1949, in Orlando, Fla., he was the son of the late William Clarence and Ruth Arnold Bitzel. On Feb. 1, 1975, in Thomasville, he married Linda Galloway, who survives. Mr. Bitzel was employed with Archbold Memorial Hospital since 1974. In 1982 he was appointed Administrative Director of Respiratory Care and was a member of the Advisory Committee for the Respiratory Care Program at Southwest Georgia Technical College. In 1989 he was given the Georgia Society of Respiratory Care President?s Award. In 1992 he became President of the Georgia Society of Respiratory Care. In 1994 and 1997 he won the Morton Dugan Award, this is the GSRC?s most distinguished award given to those showing dedication and continuous service to the GSRC. In 2004 the Bill Bitzel Award of Honor was awarded to William C. Bitzel, Jr., in recognition of years of contribution to the field of Respiratory Care. This award is given to regional Respiratory Therapists for exhibiting professionalism, loyalty, and guest relation excellence. The award is presented in honor of the hard work and dedication that has been the hallmark of William C. Bitzel, Jr. In 2005 he was a GTS Representative and a Delegate for GSRC. In 2006 he was on the Novations Respiratory Council, State Composite Board Advisory Committee for Georgia, was a Delegate for Georgia Society of Respiratory Care and was a Delegate for the American Association for Respiratory Care. Bill has led his Respiratory Care department to awards in Quality Excellence, Customer Service, Employee of the Quarter and Employee of the Year awards. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Jamie Fryman of Thomasville; grandchild, Carson Fryman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Kay Galloway of Inverness, Fla. and Fred and Lynne Galloway of Waynesville, N.C., and mother-in-law, Olive Galloway of Thomasville. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Pebble Hill Plantation, 1251 Hwy. 319 S, Thomasville, Ga. 31792.
