William Calvin Crain, affectionately known as "Wild Bill," passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 100. Bill was born on September 6, 1926, in Evansville, Indiana, to William and Hazel Kirkpatrick Crain. Bill, a proud Navy veteran, dedicated many years to serving his country before embarking on a successful career in Philadelphia, where he delivered home heating oil for Meenen Co.
In 1968, he married his beloved wife, Helen Crain, in Maryland, and together they built a life filled with love and adventure. Bill had a passion for race tracks, enjoyed singing, discussing politics, watching classic Westerns featuring Chuck Norris, and spending time in his shed, where he often delighted in his projects. He was an active member of Barnett's Creek Baptist Church and cherished his community deeply.
William is survived by his devoted spouse, Helen, his children, Samuel K. Crain of Salisbury, Pennsylvania, and Cindy Thompson of Thomasville, along with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Jack and Bob Crain, and grandson Sammy Crain II.
