Funeral services for William Curtis Benton, of Thomasville, will be on Tuesday, June 21 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Chapel, where he was a member. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and internment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The son of Jim Wright and Lola Tew Benton, Mr. Benton was born on March 19, 1927 in Midland City, Alabama. On April 14, 1949, he married Jean Snellgrove Benton, who survives. Mr. Benton was retired from Warner?s. He also served in the United States Army. Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Michael Bath of Tallahassee, FL and a son William Stacy Benton of Thomasville; 2 grandchildren, Dustin Stacy Benton and Morgan Jean Benton. Other survivors include 2 brothers, Colon Benton of Atlanta, GA, and Virgil Benton of Dothan, AL and 2 sisters, Frances Barnes of Titusville, FL and Shelby Jean Boyd of Dothan, Ala.. A daughter, Patricia Gayle Benton, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P O Box 1201, Albany, GA 31707 or to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, GA 31792. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 on Monday night at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. Friends may sign the on-line registry at www.allenfh.com .
