William A. French, 87, of Hernando, FL died at Citrus Memorial Hospital on November 23, 2016. William was born on October 2, 1929 in Pittsburg, PA, son of William and Rachel French. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. William worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed in Marietta, GA. In 1998 he moved from Marietta, GA to the Arbor Lakes Community in Hernando. William enjoyed boating, especially sailing. He was a volunteer bailiff at the Citrus County Courthouse which he enjoyed very much. William was very friendly and was fond of saying, βItβs good to be known.β
Mr. French is survived by his daughters, Carol Novik and husband Alexei of Acworth, GA, Jeanne French of Marietta, GA, and Elspeth French of Chamblee, GA, and his sister, Virginia Balfour of Thomasville, GA, nieces and nephews, Bob and Vicki Balfour, Virginia and Laurel Scherer, Deborah and Tommy Crabtree, David and Linda Balfour, and Charles and Shannon Balfour, great nieces and nephews, Lindsay and Ryan Durfee, Natalie and Ron Kelley, Stephanie and Travis Dean, Drew Balfour, Hayes Balfour, Honey Balfour, Thomas Crabtree, Rachel Crabtree, and great-great nephew Flynn Cooper Durfee.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Thomasville, GA, 2pm on December 21, 2016 in Laurel Hill Cemetery on Mississippi St. Family and friends may sign the online guest registry at
