William "Willie" Gordon Hyde
Services for William "Willie" Gordon Hyde, 77, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Thomasville Church of Christ. Minister Garland Basford and Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hyde died Dec. 4 at his residence. Born, May 23, 1932, in Gilmer County, he was the son of the late Hershel and Nancy Hensley Hyde. On Dec. 30, 1958, in Tallahassee, Fla., he married Joyce Wade Hyde, who survives. Willie and Joyce would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary later this month. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was the owner of Willie Hyde Truck Service. He was employed with Watkins Motor Lines for over 30 years, earning numerous awards for safe driving. He was also employed with Gene Hyde Trucking for over 10 years. Survivors include a son, Quinn Hyde of Thomasville; brothers, Herman Hyde and Ed Hyde both of Canton. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Hyde, Gene Hyde and Clebert Hyde.
