Funeral services for William H. Hicks, age 82 of Thomasville, will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday June 4 at the Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bill Neely and the Rev. Alan McManus will officiate. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be William Hubert Hicks,II, Donald William Stewart, Captain James Tate Hicks, Captain Michael Drew Hicks, PFC William Cecil Hicks and Keith Miller. Mr. Hicks was born in Ochlochnee, Ga on October 26, 1919. On August 16, 1940 he married Ruby Vick, who survives. Mr. Hicks was a World War II Veteran, serving from July 1944 to January 1946. He retired from H & H Construction after 31 years. He was a general foreman and superintendent and was instrumental in the construction of many wonderful buildings including Thomasville High School, Sunnyland, the house on Misletoe Plantation, Belk Hudson and the Milton YMCA. Of all his contributions, his most memorable was to those of his family. He prized his family most of all. He will be missed greatly. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Ruby Vick Hicks of Thomasville, a son, Billy Joe Hicks of St. George Island, Fl., a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Drew and Terri Hicks of Buford, Ga., and a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Jimmy Stewart. He is also survived by grandchildren, Stephanie Thetford, Dana Stewart Miller, Kelly Whidby Stoenica, William Hubert Hicks,II, Donald William Stewart, Captain James Tate Hicks, Captain Michael Drew Hicks, PFC William Cecil Stewart anbd 15 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include 3 sisters, Era Hicks Rehberg and Betty Hicks Bracken, both of Jacksonville, Fl., Edna Hicks Crow of Alabama, and 2 brothers Eldon Hicks of Ft. Meade, Fl and Donnie Hicks of Tallahassee, Fl. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by a sister Thelma Suber and a brother Russell Hicks and his parents Glenn and Mamie Graves Hicks.
