A memorial service for William Gerald (Jerry) Henderson, 76, Thomasville, is at 1:00PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.. Mr. Henderson died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at his residence. A Knoxville, Tennessee, native, Mr. Henderson was born Sept. 14, 1939, a son of the late Paul James and Ethel Henderson. He attended the University of Tennessee. Mr. Henderson started an investment banking firm, Henderson, Few and Co., in Atlanta in 1963, and moved the underwriting division to Sarasota, Florida, in 1975. He retired first to St. George Island, Florida, and later, in 1992, to Thomasville. In 2010, with a group of concerned citizens, he founded Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary and more recently was instrumental in bringing to the community the South Georgia Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic, the first of its kind in the area, for dogs and cats. Mr. Henderson served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Rotary International and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where he served as treasurer and on the vestry. Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Henderson; brother, James L. Henderson, Knoxville, Tenn.; children, William Michael Henderson, and wife, Mary, Havana. Fla., Paul James Henderson, and wife, Tami, San Antonio, Texas, Anne Frances Henderson, Charlotte, N.C., H. Keith England and wife, Martha, Beverly Hills, Calif.; grandchildren, Justin Henderson, Brady Lynn Henderson, Casey Camp, Tyler Camp, Amber Ray, Courtney May and husband, James, Chris Wilkins and wife, Megan; and six great-grandchildren.
