Graveside services for William Hiram Philmon, 83 of Cedar Springs, Ga are 2 pm, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jimmy Love will officiate. Mr. Philmon passed away September 13, 2011 at Brooks County Hospital. Born October 14, 1927 in Blakely, he was the son of the late William Henry Philmon and Minnie Lee McCormick Philmon. He was married to Mary Jo Swearingen Philmon who preceded him in death. Mr. Philmon was of the Baptist faith and loved gardening, playing guitar, singing and writing songs. Survivors include children, Glenda Jane Barton and husband Troy of Thomasville, Mary Dale Thomas and husband Ray of Boston, Roger David Philmon of Boston, Sandra Knight and husband Carlos of Adel, Debra Thomas and husband Dan of Dahlonega; daughter-in-law, Judy Philmon of Thomasville; sister, Velma Francis Burroughs of Cairo; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters.
