Services for William Malcolm Duren of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Fredonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Wooten, Rev. Jerry Lancaster and Rev. Steve Brooks will officiate and interment will be in Fredonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Russell Argo, Keller Mock, Ian Carnahan, Robbie Carnahan and Tony Reeves. Honorary Pallbearers are Ryan Parmer, Hunter Parmer, Austin Parmer, Evan Watson, Richard Paetsch, Cecil Peck, Talmadge Parker, Dr. Wassim McHayleh, Bobbie Bentley, Ashley Cone, Dr. Gregory Patterson, C. E. Pullen, Don Roberson and Chris Schulze. Mr. Duren died November 18, 2011 at his residence. Born December 24, 1934 in Thomas County, GA he was the son of the late William C. and Josephine Chastain Duren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Norma Jean Heald Duren. Mr. Duren served in the United States Navy and was a member of First Newark Baptist Church. He worked for Watkins Motor Lines for 20 years and retired from Miller Brewing Company in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Gail Hyde Duren, daughter, Melanie Duren Comerford and her husband, Ralph Comerford, daughter, Miriam Duren Carnahan and her husband, Robert Carnahan, son, Michael Levis Duren, stepchildren, Kim Mock and David Whidden, brother and sister-in-law, Shannon and Robbie Duren, grandchildren, Tara Hicks Schulze, Russell Argo, Kendra Leann Reeves and Katherine Comerford, step grandchildren, Keller Mock, Lisa Comerford Hughes and Chris Hughes and Laura Comerford, great grandchildren, Ashley and Riley Schulze, Kallie and Emma Reeves and Anna Argo, step great grandchildren, Tyler Hughes and Dorothy Hughes and step great great grandchild, Loghan Hughes, several cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is also leaving behind his border collie named after him, Mac short for Malcolm and his Chihuahua and little princess, Dixie. Memorials may be made to Lewis Singletary Oncology Center, 919 S. Broad Street, Thomasville, GA 31792 or to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 114 A Mimosa Drive, Thomasville, GA 31792. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 5:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
