William Clayton Poppell passed away on December 2, 2020 at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, GA.
William was born on October 30, 1957, in Homestead, Florida, to parents Jasper Clayton Poppell and Ruth Marie Poppell. He was married to the love of his life, Marguerite Ann Poppell for 42 years and a proud Dad to their four children, daughter Jessica Lynn (married to C. Keone), son Philip Nathanael (married to Billie Jo), son Jonathan Malachi (married to Victoria), and son Ethan Daniel (married to Mariah) and proud Peepaw to 12+ grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, parents, children, grandchildren, and brother Michael Poppell (married to Laura with children Wayne and Ashley).
William faithfully and wonderfully served our country in the United States Air Force as active duty and reservist before retiring. He also retired from FEMA as an Operations Specialist. He also served for a time with Child Evangelism Fellowship. Those who worked with him knew him to be a brilliant and kind man.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville. In his free time, he had a private pilot license, and loved spending time with his family, studying the word of God, horseback riding, playing the guitar, recording music and exploring new places. He was HAPPIEST when with his family.
