Memorial services for William "Warren" Jackson, Sr., 92, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at Morningside United Methodist Church. The Rev. Allen Hartsfield and Rev. Richard Trawick will officiate. Mr. Jackson died October 22, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus. Born, Feb. 18, 1918, in Brooks County, he was the son of the late Robert Luther, Sr. and Gladys Collins Jackson. He married Dorothy Claire Word Jackson on Dec. 24, 1939, in Bremen. She preceded him in death in 1999 after 59 years of marriage. He was a charter member of Morningside United Methodist Church, a member of the Golden K, South Georgia Genealogical Society and United Methodist Men. Mr. Jackson was a longtime employee of Sunnyland Packing Company, retiring in 1983. He was a hardworking, faithful man who cherished his family, friends, church and community. He was always ready to help and serve. He will be missed. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" Warren, Jr. and Lynn Jackson of Auburn, Ala.; granddaughter and husband, Amanda and Jon Armstrong of Auburn, Ala.; sister, Norene Cooper of Hanahan, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Marie Jackson of Thomasville, Frances Word of Augusta and Carolyn Parkman of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Don Walker of Macon; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Morningside United Methodist Church, 2007 Smith Avenue, Thomasville, Ga. 31792.
