Willie Parker (Dave) Davis, Jr, 89 of Thomasville, who was a beloved husband and devoted father, passed away August 10, 2015 at Plantation Manor. Born August 15, 1925 in Pike County, Alabama, he was the son of the late Willie Parker Davis, Sr and Effie Xuripha Wilkes Davis. He was married to Amanda Elizabeth Brown Davis, wife of 69 years, who survives. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the US Navy and participated in D-Day in WWII. He was a crew member of LST532 which was known to her crew as The Stardust. Mr. Davis worked for Watt Air Conditioning before going to Southwestern State Hospital where he retired in 1992 as the maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Ochlocknee Social Club, was an avid deer hunter, and loved traveling, history and reading. His favorite place to travel and learn the history of was the West, and he was an avid beekeeper. Other survivors include his daughters, Pamela Davis Arceneaux of Metairie, Louisiana and Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Davis of Thomasville and sisters, Louise Owens Taylor of Thomasville, Lucille Windham of Panama City, Florida and Ophelia Ross of Florida. The family will receive friends 5-6 pm, Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home. The family will have a graveside service in Panama City, Florida.
