Services for Wilma Hurst Benton, 79, of Thomasville are at 11:00AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at First Newark Baptist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Steve Brooks will officiate and interment will be in Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Mrs. Benton died July 16, 2011. Born December 17, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Austin and Annie Jane Shirah Hurst. She was married to Edward Richter and to Ernest Allen, both who preceded her in death and then to Marlin L. Benton who survives in Thomasville. She was retired from Coats America. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Allen-Newsome and Daniel of Thomasville, sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Robert Hinson of Cairo, sisters, Geneva Nixon of Pelham, GA and Myrtice Williams of Thomasville, sister and brother-in-law, Lee and Leonard Clayton of Whigham, stepchildren, Michael and Patty Benton of Hinson, TX, Marcia and Mike Posey of Tallahassee, FL, Carolyn Kierce of Ochlocknee, GA, Jimmy and Dana Benton of Moultrie, GA, Lynne Cloud of Thomasville and Billy Benton of Thomasville, grandchildren, Henry L. Hayes, III, Allen Chason Newsome and Stephen Garrett Newsome and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by children, David Richter, Eddie Richter and Teresa Richter and brothers, Austin Thomas Hurst, Henry Hurst, Marlin Hurst, Wendell Hurst and Lester Hurst. Memorials may be made to First Newark Baptist Church Youth Activities, 225 Russell Road, Thomasville, GA 31757.
