Wyatt Ell

December 9, 1933 — April 7, 2024

Wyatt Revell passed away on April 7, 2024 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. He was surrounded by family. He was born on December 9, 1933 to the late Charlie Clinton Revell and Dollie Langston Revell. He was preceded in death by his siblings Guyte Revell, Garard Revell, Dykes Revell, and Duane Revell James.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Revell; daughters Lisa Scott (Jimmy) and Paula Allen; granddaughters Heather Delk and Amber Allen; and great-granddaughter Karter Delk.
Born in Drifton, Florida Wyatt lived his childhood in Liberty County on the home place in the middle of the Apalachicola National Forest. He helped his father raise cows and hogs and harvested turpentine. At age 19, he began working at the Thomasville Fire Department and would serve our city as Lieutenant and Captain for 38 years until retirement. Even after retirement, his fellow firemen still called him Captain. He considered those he worked with as brothers. While working for the city, he was drafted, went into the Army for 2 years of service, and then served in the National Guard. He also owned his own business, Revell Tree Service, during this time, and employed many of his fellow firemen.
Wyatt married Nell Hancock on January 16, 1965 and they were together for 59 years. He was a wonderful husband and father, always taking care of his family and putting them first. From a young age, he was involved in the church and was baptized in the river while a member of Mt. Beasor Primitive Baptist Church. Since 1988 Wyatt has been a member of Dawson Street Baptist Church and served as usher and leader of the Senior Adult Group, organizing many activities. During his active years, he was also involved with the American Legion, Senior Kiwanis, and Woodmen of the World Fraternity. He was an avid reader and loved traveling, fishing, listening to bluegrass (especially on Saturday afternoons), and playing with his grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Allen and Allen Funeral Home on Thursday, April 11, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A family graveside service will be held on Friday, April 12, at 10:00 AM at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Pastor Lee Waller will officiate.
