Wylie Moore Watt

November 30, 1950 — February 28, 2024

Wylie Moore Watt, Sr., 73, died peacefully on February 28, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Denise Bryan Watt, son, Wylie Watt, Jr., son and daughter-in-law Bryan and Yvonne McKay Watt; granddaughters Ada and Mary Watt and grandson, Jackson Watt. Wylie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hansell Watt, Jr. and Julia Rogers Watt, his brother, Charles Hansell Watt, III, and his infant sister.

Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tim Filston officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception in the fellowship hall.

Wylie attended Thomasville High School, graduating in 1969. He graduated from Presbyterian College in 1973 with a BS in Psychology. He earned his M.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Georgia in 1975. Wylie worked as a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor from 1975 until 1988 with the Georgia Rehabilitation Services in Valdosta, Georgia. During this time he held several offices, including that of President, with the Georgia Rehabilitation Association.

In 1988 he decided to move his family to Thomasville, Georgia to be closer to family. There, he started his business, Watt Rehabilitation Services, where he spent 29 years helping countless clients return to work after having been injured on the job.

Wylie enjoyed coaching his sons in sports and was involved with several committees at the YMCA during this time. He was a Rotarian for many years and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was active with the Sports Hall of Fame when it was first established in Thomasville and was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville.

He lived life to the fullest, having many hobbies including hunting, golfing, birdwatching, fishing, and sailing at Alligator Point, to name a few. He loved growing vegetables and flowers and enjoyed delivering them to friends and family.

Wylie was a man of faith and integrity, who committed his life to helping and serving others. He cared deeply for people and had a unique ability to see the good in each person. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by so many.
