Memorial services for Wyndell Lee Mathis, 56, of Cairo, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2009, graveside, in Long Branch Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Harry Bruno will officiate. Mr. Mathis died Aug. 28 at his residence. Born Sept. 14, 1952, in Cairo, he was the son of the late Melton Matthew Mathis and Callie Palmer Mathis. Survivors include siblings, Doris Williamson and husband, J.C., Charles Mathis, Donald Mathis and wife, Laura, all of Cairo, Mattie Minchew of Thomasville, William Mathis and Dennis Mathis both of Cairo; nephew and nieces, Steve Mathis and wife, Vanessa of Cairo, Donnie Mathis of Chipley, Fla., Jack Young and wife, Charlotte, Angela Sangster and husband, Jimmy and Denise Hudson all of Thomasville; family friends, Dr. Harry Bruno and David Pyles. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 818 Gordon Ave., Thomasville, GA. 31792 or to the Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center, 116 Mimosa Drive, Thomasville, GA. 31792.
